Can my partner or other family members be present during the consultation?

Absolutely! Partners, spouses, and other supportive family members are highly encouraged to be present. Support from family is invaluable to the feeding journey.

Where do consultations take place?

Consultation locations depend on the primary care provider. For patients of Valley Pediatrics of Greenwich, appointments are held at the Valley Pediatrics office location. For all other clients, flexible support is available through private office, in-home, or virtual consultations. Use the interactive tool under "Schedule / More Info" to verify home visit eligibility.

What insurance plans are in-network?

Stephanie Cleary, IBCLC is currently in-network with Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, and Oxford. For patients of Valley Pediatrics of Greenwich, most major insurance plans are accepted for consultations.

Are prenatal (before birth) consultations available?

Yes, prenatal consultations are highly recommended. These sessions help expectant parents prepare for breastfeeding, discuss goals, learn about common challenges, and address concerns before the baby arrives.

How long does a typical consultation last?

In-home and office consultations typically last about 60 minutes, while virtual consultations are approximately 30 minutes. This allows for a thorough assessment, feeding observation, and the development of a personalized care plan.

What are the consultation fees?

Detailed pricing and service-specific costs can be found using the interactive tool under "Schedule / More Info." Enter the specific address and insurance details to view applicable fees and travel availability.

Is the practice inclusive of all families?

Absolutely. The practice is dedicated to providing compassionate, non-judgmental care to all families, including LGBTQIA+ families, single parents, adoptive parents, and those of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds. Every unique feeding journey is supported.

How should a family prepare for a consultation?

To maximize the session, it is helpful if the baby is ready to feed at the start of the appointment. You might also want to have any nursing pillows, breast pump parts, or bottles you use handy. Think about any questions or concerns you have beforehand, and gather any relevant information like baby's feeding logs.

How long has Stephanie Cleary been practicing as an IBCLC?

Stephanie Cleary has been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) since 2013, supporting many families through their unique feeding journeys.

Does a consultation include pump setup and flange sizing?

Yes. A comprehensive lactation consultation covers pump assembly, optimal setting adjustments, and flange sizing to ensure comfort and milk expression efficiency.

Is support available for those returning to work?

Professional guidance is provided to help transition back to the workplace. This includes creating a customized pumping schedule, calculating milk needs for childcare, and navigating legal rights for pumping in the workplace.

Can a consultation help with low milk supply while pumping?

Support is available to troubleshoot supply concerns. This involves assessing pump effectiveness, reviewing frequency, and implementing evidence-based strategies to protect and increase milk production.

Are there resources for bottle-feeding transitions?

Transitioning between breast and bottle is a common focus. Expert techniques are shared to support pace-feeding and ensure a baby accepts a bottle while maintaining the breastfeeding relationship.
